In a hella brief interview with Touré from FUSE Tv, Lauryn Hill, talks about why she left the game. I guess she wanted to regain her her freedom and normalcy… She said she had to leave and live life to be able to come back and express something real. As much as I love her being back, I’m starting to feel like she should have stayed gone….
o!
“Maybe I’ll release some new recordings, in terms of what type of context they come out in… I’m real free…. I think I’m ready to express myself again. You have to live life so you have something substantial to share or else it’s kind of pointless and vain.”
For us die hard L. Boogie fans, that’s something we’ve been longing to hear for years… I love Lauryn Hill, truly I do. I can even go so far as to say her album “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” changed my life, but, I just wish her performances as of lately were just as powerful as her words. With all due respect, I do feel like she’s ruining her legacy with this “come back”. In our minds I think we’ve epitomized this woman who fell into the music game by chance, and just so happened to be one of the most prolific mainstream rappers of our time… Its unfortunate that she needed to find normalcy for 10-12years but she did it, and I respect it. But for us to genuinely expect the L. Boogie comeback that we wanted years ago is crazy, and in turn we will only be setting ourselves up for disappointment. And as much as I loved that she was even there at Rock The Bells, a majority of me wishes she had stayed gone.
